Gateway Hospice Bereavement Policy

Bereavement services are an integral part of the Gateway Hospice program. The purpose of the program is to help family members of the hospice patient regain and maintain their level of physical and mental health prior to the family crisis necessitating hospice care.

Special features of the Gateway Hospice Bereavement Program include family calls and regular mailings, and personal visits if desired. Gateway also hosts several support groups, free and open to the community serving diverse geographic areas. Support is also extended to staffs of nursing facilities within our service area. Bereavement support, education and in-service training are all integral components of the Gateway Hospice Bereavement Program.

A family member may decline bereavement care at any time if it is their desire to do so, with the understanding that Gateway may continue to be a resource for him or her in the future if they desire.
